Positioning the Nigerian Maritime Sector with Global Shifts and Trends
Agwe Global was part of the one-day law conference hosted by the Maritime Law Club of Lagos State University, which took place on October 10,2023. The conference was themed "Positioning the Nigerian Maritime Sector with Global Shifts and Trends" and featured Iroghama Ogbeifun, the CEO of STARZS INVESTMENT COMPANY LIMITED, as the official speaker.
The aim of the conference was to provide insights into the recent global shifts and trends that are influencing the Nigerian maritime sector. The event successfully brought together experts, professionals, and students from various disciplines, not only from the law department but also from other faculties across the university, by aligning the conference with a Career Day for the students of Lagos State University.
The event commenced with a welcome address by the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, highlighting the importance of the maritime sector in Nigeria's economy and the need for continuous learning and collaboration to adapt to global changes.
Mrs. Iroghama Ogbeifun delivered an exceptional keynote address, emphasizing the need for Nigerian professionals and stakeholders to embrace new technologies, innovations, and international best practices in order to enhance the country's competitiveness in the global maritime industry. Following the keynote address, various panel discussions were conducted, featuring renowned experts and practitioners in the maritime industry.
The participation of students from multiple disciplines in the conference's Career Day was a commendable decision by the university. It provided an opportunity for them to gain valuable insights into the maritime industry and its career prospects.
