The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Sunday 9 August, 2026 finalised the coupling and detailed examination of a massive arms haul seized at the Tin Can Island Port Command, uncovering 399 fully assembled Jojef firearms alongside a critical assortment of supplementary rifle parts.
The development follows the disclosure by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, on Thursday, 6 August 2026, that Customs had intercepted a container containing concealed crates of knocked-down components preliminarily identified as Jojef pump-action rifles.
The Provisional Committee for the Establishment of the Nigerian Coast Guard (PC-NCG), has urged the Senate to pass the Nigerian Coast Guard Establishment Bill.
The committee said that the passage of the bill would strengthen maritime security, create jobs and accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth through the Blue Economy.
This is contained in a statement on Tuesday, by the PC-NCG Director of Communication and Public Affairs, Dr Piriye Kiyaramo.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, has intercepted expired noodles, foreign parboiled rice, Cannabis Sativa, pharmaceutical products, cigarettes and other prohibited items with a combined Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N365.16 million.
The seizures were made during separate enforcement operations carried out by the Command, with the intercepted items including 1,306 sacks of expired and waste noodles, 1,268 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 373 parcels of Cannabis Sativa, pharmaceutical products and 310,000 sticks of Time/Yes cigarettes.
THE Nigerian Navy (NN) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) have renewed their strategic partnership through the signing of a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This is contained in a statement by the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
Folorunsho said that the MoU, which was signed at the naval headquarters in Abuja, was designed to strengthen maritime safety and security across Nigeria’s maritime domain.

The Provisional Committee for the Establishment of the Nigerian Coast Guard, PC-NCG, has urged the Senate to pass the Nigerian Coast Guard Establishment Bill.
The committee said passage of the bill would strengthen maritime security, create jobs and accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth through the Blue Economy.
The bill is currently before the Senate at the Third Reading stage where it was stepped down for further legislative action over concerns of duplication of roles and funding.
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has called for increased operational support from the Nigerian Navy, particularly in the Eastern Zone, as part of efforts to strengthen port security, improve trade facilitation and enhance the competitiveness of Nigeria’s seaports.
The Managing Director of NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, made the call on Tuesday while receiving the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Mustapha, during a courtesy visit to the Authority’s headquarters in Marina, Lagos.
