The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Jubilee says it has rescued two kidnap victims, and recovered stolen outboard engines during an operation along the Ibeno Waterways in Akwa Ibom.
The Commander, Commodore Mohammed Manga, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo on Wednesday.
Manga said that the operation followed an intelligence report received by the NNS Jubilee Maritime Quick Response Team.

IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez has expressed his condolences and reiterated his tireless call on the international community to do more to protect seafarers, following reports of the deaths of five crew members during an operation to free the hijacked vessel HONOUR 25 in the Gulf of Aden region.
The HONOUR 25 was one of three vessels released this week, along with the SEAMULL (SIBU 1) and EUREKA, which were held captive by pirates and armed robbers since they were seized between April and August 2026.

The Nigerian Navy, under Operation DELTA SENTINEL, has recovered approximately 80,000 litres of crude oil in two separate anti-crude oil theft operations in Delta.
This is contained in an operational report by the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Abuja on Tuesday.
Folorunsho said the first operation was conducted by NNS DELTA on Sept. 21, in the Oteghele general area, and resulted in the discovery of a large dugout reservoir containing approximately 30,000 litres of crude oil.

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, says the Federal Government is putting necessary measures in place to minimise boat mishaps in the country.
Oyetola said this on Tuesday during a celebration of his 72nd birthday held at his country home, Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun.
He said the Federal Government was also taking steps to remove rickety boats from the nation’s waterways.

The Benue State Emergency Management Agency (Benue-SEMA) has deployed local divers to search for the remaining missing persons on the tragic boat accident on River Katsina-Ala in Buruku Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Tema Ager, Head of Information Unit, Benue-SEMA, confirmed this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Makurdi.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has auctioned 22,175 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) intercepted by Operation Whirlwind along the Lagos-Ogun axis, with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N32.1 million.
The National Coordinator of Operation Whirlwind, Deputy Comptroller Abubakar Aliyu, announced the auction on Monday in Lagos at the Customs Training College, Ikeja, on the directive of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi.
Aliyu said the auction demonstrated the NCS’s commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent management of seized petroleum products in line with extant laws and approved procedures.
